Hi, This is my first entry. See my profile for more info, but this is day 143 of consecutive hour long sits. Reached my cutting edge very quickly today. This is a state where things are quite hectic. It's a barrage of sensations. They are too fast, no nondescript to note. I tried noting &quo ...

8:00am Very distracted samatha practice, despite a few moments of resolve and close attention to the breath. Switched to out-loud Mahasi noting after half an hour, and seemed to get somewhere with this. Quite steady mindfulness throughout, starting to find my groove again with noting mindstates ...

Started with repeating a lot of work conversations. After noting hear in each stopped immediately. Maybe it's because they were noticed at the very end (so that hear in coincided with gone) or because hear in label replaced them. After a while main topic of inner talk switched to imagining what ...

Searching for an optimal sequence in Shinzen's 5 ways, this time tried focus on rest. Not a lot was going on except, well, rest :-) This practice is very similar to what I've been doing before (whole body breathing/relaxation). Major difference is the perception of time — it is going about 1.3x ...

Continued with focus on rest. This time dropped attempts to notice gone, instead added all rest. Experimented with different sequences and with the time for each part: * see rest -> hear rest -> feel rest * see rest -> feel rest -> hear rest * feel rest -> see rest -> hear rest ...

Good morning sit. Started with 30 minutes of focus on rest. It was easy and enjoyable. I usually see lights with eases closed, today lights were almost blasting at me several times. Especially after I worked up to all rest. For the rest of sitting was focusing on everything. External sounds wer ...

Why sit for 105 minutes when you can sit for 120? That's what I thought this morning. Started with focus on rest for 30 minutes. Good concentration, was easier to keep all rest going than yesterday. Significantly less mental chatter. Next 45 minutes or so (before strong sensations developed in ...

Missed logging my morning sit in proper time. We make breakfast right after I'm done sitting, have to find a proper way to incorporate logging into daily routine. Which is changing itself as I've started doing this long morning sits. Now I'm napping for 30 min after lunch and sleeping less at n ...

I sat for ten minutes this evening, practicing noting a little bit more. I am finally starting to get the hang of it. Unfortunately for me, ten minutes in, my cat somehow managed to get into a fight with her sibling, and the ensuing battle interrupted my meditation. But that's all right.

It was an easy and relaxing session. A little bit more noting practice, pretty much. I was apparently still and comfortable enough that a cat fell asleep on my chest. Once I was done meditating, I didn't want to move right away so as not to wake her.

I had a new and interesting experience with my noting technique. I noted something like "sound" followed by "thought about that sound". And once I saw that pattern, it happened a couple more times. Interesting feeling and it was sort of relaxing just to make the connection. O ...

I did two hours of meditation separated into intervals of 25 minutes sitting and 5 minutes walking. This was a group meditation. When sitting, I did concentration meditation with my breath as the object. When walking, I noted which sense gate my sensations were coming from. First sit: Had trou ...

I worked on listening to my breath and paying attention to the sensations associated with the breath without losing awareness of my body. I tried to do a body scan at one point. Same as yesterday, there were a lot of sensations to sort through. At one point I noted "pain" and it was ju ...
