Not sure if I was sitting to enjoy a sit or to procrastinate, but it worked well. It was easy to focus on the breath and to cut out the chatter. I sat, I breathed, the same awareness of hands and feet, but not legs and arms was present. I now think the stomach feelings are related to food/hu ...

Because my breath is causing me problems to get a more stable jhana, I decided to learn more about anapana sati. I followed that introductory guided meditation at audiodharma : http://www.audiodharma.org/series/1/talk/1797/. I guess I undestand better how to relax more when breathing, hope it ...

Jhana again. In fact, multiple Jhana to be precise. I tried to concentrate on the smoothness, and resolved that it was ok to not reach jhana, since it works better to accept that fact from the beginning . Interesting though, the piti factor may come just after the mind wondering (yet concentrati ...

A day off work and I make myself sit after the most minimal few hours of procrastination. I dedicate the sit to the benefit of all beings, and make sure I'm included in that set. There's instant focus and mental distance from the sense doors. A charged, embarrassing memory pops out of nowhere an ...

Observed the rising and falling of the abdomen. Just the sensations changing one after another, not me nor mine, clear and transparent, devoid of the associated concept or image. Many distractions, so could not go really deep. Kept noting both "rising/falling", and the distracting &quo ...

Today I found much pleasure again in a restful state while observing the breath in formal meditation. Nice clarity in seeing the physical phenomena unfolding over time as they are. Also, breathing calmed mental fabrications :) and after every outbreath there was almost complete inner silence, an ...

Pretty good sit tonight. Judged less, just sat. Pain came and went, but just was. Better concentration than usual.

Working back towards my previous concentration / stamina levels. Got to about 25min tonight and felt good. That's encouraging. Tried to use the nada sound as my meditation object... I'm not real good at that yet, but it is interesting.

Quick sit. Kinda rushed, but wanted to get one in.

Simple sit while the family was out running errands. Less than great concentration, but better than it could have been. Its in the books at any rate. Now I'm ready for the chaotic day of amusement park fun.

Today, I tried to meditate using a mantra, with some interesting results. For one, it was easier to focus on a couple of words than on my breathing, and it was certainly interesting to observe my mind in action. While it was easier, I kind of expected no actual results whatsoever -- chanting and ...

Not feeling so great today, which always seems to take a toll on my ability to meditate. It's much harder to focus while also contending with a migraine. My concentration kept moving between the pain and my breath and the sounds (sensitivity to sound is just... ugh).

Another sort of quick sit today. Just me and the breath, coming and going. Edit: And now I get to amend this because I got another fifteen minutes of meditation in -- goodness, but is it hard to find some quiet sometimes -- and it was extremely productive and relaxing. For a few minutes, it was ...

I got in a good twenty minute sit today. A couple of strange things happened that I'm not sure how to interpret. For one, my muscles felt twitchy. It was like shivers running down my legs and me watching/feeling it with a mild fascination. It happened around the maybe fifteen minute mark (hard t ...

Two short sittings today, both at work, with a number of interruptions. I still feel a wave of frustration whenever my meditation is interrupted, but nowadays it doesn't last nearly as long as it used to when I first started practicing.

Today, both times I meditated, sleepiness came over me within maybe five, six minutes. I guess I didn't get enough sleep last night or something.

Two sessions today, one for ten minutes and one for fifteen. The shorter one at work went as it normally does -- some relaxation, listening to the breath, noting sensations "rising" and "falling" of the chest. Evening meditation went about the same, but I felt much more relax ...

It was a pretty uneventful sit, all in all. My mind raced a bit -- a side effect of a hectic day -- and I spent the entire fifteen minutes just trying to count breaths.

Just one session today, and earlier in the day at that. Worked on posture a little bit and focused on the breath, really tried to feel each motion. Which made my breath feel kind of jerky and uneven, actually. I was a little nervous about the sensation for a few minutes but as soon as I was done ...

My longest meditation ever, done lying down on the bed. Definitely a relaxing and soothing experience. At one point it was just me and the breath. Now that it's done I feel a little bit more aware than normal, same sensation as last week on Wednesday or Thursday. Also, very relaxed.

Sat for ten minutes but couldn't muster enough stillness to really relax. Too twitchy right now (possibly because I had coffee a little bit too late this morning).

I am sort of loosely following the guidance provided in "The Mind Illuminated" and also reading "Mastering the Core Teachings of the Buddha", so today I just sat and felt my breath. Ten minutes isn't really enough time for me to relax very far or sink deeply into any particul ...

Focusing on the breath again today. I started with "everything is all right, there is no need to change anything" as my focus and then focused on the breath. I think I just needed to calm down a bit and this helped dramatically.

Today, I sat for fifteen minutes in a quiet room at work. Before going there to meditate, I took a few minutes to write about my day to kind of let go of the frustrations that were bothering me. It allowed me to begin the meditation already calmer than I normally am. In turn, it made it much eas ...

I did a split sit with some friends. 20 minutes in the beginning, a break, and then another 40 minutes. I'm experimenting with this to see if leading with a short sit helps my concentration for a longer sit. This worked as planned, with much better concentration in the second part than I normall ...

The weird thing is the "echo". I am not used to watching my own mind warp itself around the way it does with a mantra. I started today by chanting "You are enough" and it sort of lingered, but not all at the same time. I think almost every meditation I've done has been what ...

It was a crazy busy day -- stuff exploded at work, things broke -- so I only got a chance to meditate at home. And not even for that long because half my evening was all commute. And because I was already agitated, it made for a difficult session.

Hi, This is my first entry. See my profile for more info, but this is day 143 of consecutive hour long sits. Reached my cutting edge very quickly today. This is a state where things are quite hectic. It's a barrage of sensations. They are too fast, no nondescript to note. I tried noting &quo ...
