I went to a 45 minute Mantra Mediation class, and it was an experience unlike any before. It was the longest period of time I have ever sat for. The class took place in a dome-shaped room, complete with calm, color changing lights and soft relaxing music. The class included focus on breath, focus on silence, and focus on a specific mantra. Though I could not keep a clear mind for the entirety of the class, I found that I was able to acknowledge my drifting attention and focus it back. This experience taught me a few techniques I intend on incorporating in my personal, at-home meditation sits.
