Headspace day 24. a lot of doubtful why am I doing this, and that I am doing it wrong. To sit straight for 20 minutes gets easier.

After last night's Vedanta class I awoke with spacious awareness as the state of mind. Rested in it. Drifted in and out of sleep.

Tried a guided loving-kindness meditation for the first time today. The first two stages were easy -- focusing on myself and then focusing on a loved one. Focusing on a neutral person was easy in a sense, but I also realized that I don't think about others very often. It felt good to try to grow ...

• Heart of my heart/I am yours Not such an emotional day today, I was able to approach the sit in a slightly more balanced way. Some mind wandering, relative calm, and then towards the end this odd sense of... Will is the best word I can give for it... descended on me. I didn't interact with it ...

Mainly zazen with fewer interruptions by energy movements. Mind very calm. Wondered again if I was just blocking something out so closed my eyes and started delving down - tried to get to the bottom of what I was really feeling and it seemed nothing much only the very faintest hint of fear. Stil ...

Woke to power cut and tried to
find somewhere to sit in the dark where I wouldn’t be in the way but only
managed to get about 10 minutes at a time.
4 such sits, each kriya heavy. Lot of strange energy movements in my
head and as well as the now usual little crackling sounds ...

Trying so hard to control the breath, creating a lot of tension and discomfort in the abdomen, throat, neck, face. This is exactly how I relate to several things; I don't fully trust the flow of Life, so I try to force it, and create a lot of tension. I really don't know how to deal with this. A ...

Inspired by Buddha Pong (which I still haven't logged into yet because of the need for Facebook), I tried noting. I liked it and found that it helped me focus on my thoughts and body more. Around 20 minutes I noticed that my noting was dropping off and getting less frequent and that I was drowsy ...

• Heart of my heart/I am yours I was tired and quite down tonight... But I sat, and ran the method. Once again there was a vague sense in the background that there was a slightly clearer, slightly more effortless, way I could fall into doing the method, but thinking about it just made it more d ...

Bristol Insight Meditation day retreat today with Rob Burbea, titled as above. Resonant in so many ways. It couldn't have been more timely. Sits and talks through the day resulted in gradual opening and spaciousness. Still taking it all in.Left feeling inspired (and a bit embarrassed coz I did a ...

I'd like your thoughts on this everyone... Just finished reading The Joy of Living by Yonge Mingyur Rinpoche. One thing that stood out for me was his advice that if bliss, clarity or non-conceptuality come up in a meditation to stop right there before they dissipate. The reasoning given was to p ...

• Heart of my heart/I am yours I was very tired when I came to sit, and emotionally wrung out by the day... but I was surprised that sleep didn't arise during the sit, nor did terribly strong emotions, I just sat with it and went along with it. Nothing very much occurred, but the longing was ve ...
